anybody got a modified duramax?
Yeah i know this is not likely to get any response but here it goes. 05 duramax LLY. a lot of little BS done to it. anyway around the end of third gear truck leans out and goes into failsafe mode. believe the code is p1093. The folks at pacific performance engineering (the people that made my software) tell me that the fuel pressure regulator is the problem and that by disassembling it and shimming the internal spring i will eliminate the lean condition. the problem is that this regulator is supposed to be nonserviceable and i would much rather purchase another regulator that will work than take this one apart. i have not been able to find anyone selling anything for me. anyone know anybody having similliar problems? or any help would be appreciated.
My dad's duramax ('04) had starting problems. He took it to the dealership to get fixed and it would still happen. Since that was his work truck he ended up just spraying ether in the intake tract and it would start right up. Sorry about your problem, but it's weird hearing problems coming from newer diesels. Good luck on the fix.
you are fucking retarded to squirt it with ether, but thats a moot point.
the FPR is servicable seperate, but you gotta redo the stocker. the fuel system is just about maxed out on them stock, you tweak the duty cycle and you run into issues most of the time.
there is a TSB out on the FPR on them, there has been some issues with moisture getting into the fuel lines and causing a corrosion issue on the pintle. if there is water in the fuel, the end of the regulator is gonna be blackish with scale and pitting. a good one is gonna be brownish.
the replacement FPR from GM is gonna be pn 97728979.
i presume you have changed the fuel filter though? them bitches are hardcore susceptable to fuel delivery issues. dont run any kind of diesel treatment in them either, alot of fuel additives have a hygroscopic additive that mixes the water with the fuel to be burned, causing hella issues.
HUEI systems get to be nice and complex

Hey it might have been stupid, but that's how my dad got that truck to run to get home from a business trip.

thanks for the help. however, i should have done a better job explaining when this problem occurs. it only happends when my programmer is turned completely up (level 4). the truck has only 13 k miles on it and it has not recieved a replacement fuel filter. in regards to the ether or a "newer diesel running poorly", this drivablilty concern does not occur in stock trim so i would have a difficult time getting the dealership to verify the concern or do anythign about it for that matter. and believe me i would never put any form of starting fluid in my truck. heads are expensive. i think i may purchase a replace regulator and modify it and then install it.
simple test to see if its your FPR is to do a running fuel pressure test, gauge hooked up and load it down in the level 4 mode to see if it drops too much.
