Default To all you Honda know-it-alls...I need help...

I did a gsr swap in my 99 civic coupe. I get it goin, and everythings fine. Get on it, and shift to 2nd, car bogs, like it died, then snaps back, and is good. now today, after 5 days on the road, it dies about every couple miles when warmed up. It will start back up, but only after sittin for a few, then dies again. I put my hand on the distributor, and it feels hotter than it should. The engine temp is normal. Is there something in my distributor goin dead? or is the whole distributor goin? I'm at a loss.
Any help would be appreciated.....

Thanks

Try another distributor, also might want to try main relay.

could be the ignitor on its way out.
they sometimes fail in an erratic manner.
notice anything weird with your gauges?

x2 on the ignitor... my distributor did the same thing over the course of a month, and finally one day i was pulling out onto a street and it just died, and wouldnt turn back over. I recommend getting that changed immediately before you go to pull on to the highway and it dies and you get in an accident.

ok, where's that located? what the actual name of the part? and when it dies, the only thing with the guages, is the tach, obviously it dies, and goes to nothing cuz it aint runnin. however, when the engines cold, it runs great...

when the engine is cold the clearances in the distributor are tighter, when it warms up the shaft has a little more play, i would assume that the play in it is causing vibration enough to cause a short or something.

youd pretty much have to rip the bitch apart to get to the ignitor. I've had more distributor problems over the years then anything else, and I can tell you the bottom line is dont fuck with used pieces of shit. They end up breaking not too long after you put them in, just skip the bullshit and buy a new one. I think I got mine from bap geon for 240 new + core. Im not sure if anyplaces will rebuild them for cheaper but its worth a call or two around town.

how many miles on the swap???
The ignitor should be inside the distributor.
Also take the dist. assembly off and spin it by hand.
I've seen distributors lock up on some hondas when I worked a CF honda.
If its really hard to turn and/or looks corroded, price a new dist.
