all motor build opinions?
I already have a b16 in my DA and I have parts on the way for the head. I can't decide if I want to keep the b16 bottom end and mildly build it for 200whp-ish and 10k rpm capable or jump on the b20/vtec bandwagon and build it to 225 ish whp and way more torque but can only rev to 7k rpm. The b20 will cost more to build. Serious opinions please I can't decide.

umm, b20/vtec build, with rods and pistons, or at least rods you can rev on past 7k. Dont know who told you that. Seen bone stock block b20/vtec's hit 9k and still hold together.

Re: all motor build opinions?
yea its harder to get to 200+ whp than you may think.... keep your b16 head and put it on a b20 block ...if you build the block then you can rev way past 7k... if you want to make power you need displacement...which a b20 block has (84mm) but you also need to put a good combination of parts on the motor and a nice set of cams. just be ready to spend money if you wanna make some nice numbers

I like a gsr block better than a b20 block and I put 193 to the wheel in mine. I took it way past 9k a couple times too. It held together for a very long time. Till I sold it to a kid and he destroyed it at 13k RPMS.
