Default to accord owners.

hi there. i drive a 1992 4 door accord non vtec. i believe its a f22 but im not 100% sure. well as i was driving today, my D4 light started to blink. now when i drive it seems like i have lost my over drive "gear" it feels this way because when cruising on the highway, 70mph=3K rpm. now at 3K rpm, im going about 60. the car runs smooth though. its just that i am concerned about gas mileage. thanks

It's your transmission computer.
If you try to buy a used one, make sure it is for the same year and trim leve (ex,lx etc.)
If you want a new one, ask for it for Xmas, it will be a lot less painful that way.
Good luck
Dan

It's under the carpet on the right front floor board. Pull back the carpet, remove the plate and there it is. Make sure you match the computer numbers. It only interchanges 92-93 but also splits dx and lx one style and ex another style. Also I found someone on the net a few years back that could repair yours. This might be a better idea than replacing it with a used unit that might be bad or go bad right away!! These units are notorious for failing. If you continue to drive the car with the light on it will also take your tranny out as well!! Dave Brauning

well i changed the tcu. and it is still blinking. yes i did swap it out with the battery disconnected. well, after i test drove, i took apart my original one. after opening it, i discover that nothing is burnt. idk. im no electrician but if nothing is burnt, shouldnt everything be fine?
