Default 99 Explorer Misfire??

Hey guys whats goinf on. I just recently picked up a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport, its the 4.0 SOHC. The car has a rough idle and the check engine is on, i put it on my reader tool and it said its a misfire in cylinder #3. Is this a common problem? Has anyone had any experience with this, i was wondering if this is common in Fords or if it is an easy fix? Im a Honda guy so this is all new to me! I appreciate the help in advance..

+1 on sensor.

Explorer engines seem to require all the electronics to be flawless to run worth a damn. One bad sensor or one loose connector and it'll run like shit. I'd check out the oxygen sensors first, Fords are notorious for that.

also had a 97 and was misfiring on # 8 cly. if you have a coil pack as well check the connection of the wires cause i bought the cheap shit for wires mad it worse so i returned them and got the good one and that fixed my problem on my 97 explorer. but i would start with the sensors ...
