Default 97 teg battery question

i just bought a brand new battery and replaced it with the dead battery. What happened with the dead battery was it was cranking very weakly to where it would barely start and it never seemed to really get charged again. I am thinking because of this that it is the alternator. The thing that is throwing me off is that I hooked the new battery in the car and it doesnt start. The sound that comes on when you leave the lights on comes on but the lights arent on??????wtf....Ive got electrical power cause the lights and horn, etc work. I still tried to jump start it and nothing cranked. I jump started the old battery though before taking it out and it cranked fine and started right up. Anyone know what is going on?

how about a anti-theft stereo/cd player where you have to plug in a code?

hmmm- i bought this car used and this is the first time i ever took the battery out- it does have a kenwood double deck cd player/tape player in it. It is aftermarket, i think since its kenwood. It must be something of that nature though because this ha never happened until I completly disconnected the battery. How would I find out

google the model number to find out it's specs first then if that's not it, drop the panel under the dash and look for stray wires running to your ignition switch and or fuse block and trace them back to the source

aight- makes sense- so if ignition wires are split because of the headunit or vat ,if i have one, just rewire the wires directly to each other??
