Question 97 civic (d16y8), cylinder 1+2 misfire??? wtf

ok heres the deal...me and a friend jsut adjusted the valves on my civic...we didnt do anything major or nothgin liek that...they arent tight or whatever, they are just not loose and makign noise anymore...but i go to pick up my crx tontie from (bert) here on the boards, and next thing i know im at his house and my cel pops on....code 71, and 72..which is cylinder 1 and 2 misfire...or cylinder 1 and 2 misfire detected....but still its there...

any ways...

could me adjusting the valves had anything to do with this cel?

i mean...if i go and adjust the cylinder 1 and 2 valves again should that make this go away? maybe they are too tight or too lose?

what do you think...any help would be appreciated!

thankx in advance, brandon

I know this may have nothing to do with your situation. But I was told that the emission bs may cause a CE light to come on and the code that it throws doesn't pertain to whats going on. Its a service bullention thats on 96-97s.

Best of luck with it.

well i mean would that even sound right?

i adjusted my valves, so if they are too tight or too lose, would it cause the cylinder to misfire?

what else would cause cylinder 1 and 2 to misfire?

I don't know. I leave the internal adjustments up to my brother. I care too much about my motor (and I don't trust myself)to work on it. I'll ask him, he's a tech, but I'm not sure what to say.

Is the car in limp mode? I hear people speak of it, but I have never felt it, and I'm throwin a code too..Knock Sensor code..

ok..heres the deal..

-i adjusted my valves, cylinder 1 and 2 are misfireing, or a misfire has been detected. (code 71 + 72)
-my idle surges kinda...when im driving it will be normal, but when i take it out of gear, and im in neutral and im jsut rolling , my car stays between 2k and 2.5K rpms...then when i come to a complete stop, my idle is normal
-what can cause the cylinder 1 and 2 to misfire? bad wires, valves not opening/closing all the way? valves to tight, to lose?
-dizzy is messing up?

what i am confused?? fuck

btw: my idle set screw is all the way turned down, if that helps?

im not in limp mode, im not in any mode, my cel is on and its pissing me off!

Make sure you didnt comprimise the wires for 1 and 2 when doing the valve adjustment, and pull the plugs and see what they look like, thats where I would start.
