I should be fine. With some money into the engine maybe I won't mind driving such an ugly thing so much.

i still have a cheap 97 civic coupe
My little brother has a GSR with something like 97k miles on it and it smokes like crazy once you basically hit VTEC. If you keep the shifts low, it's fine.
He took it and had a compression test and leakdown test done and there's something wrong. They don't know if it's rings or valve seals without pulling the motor. He needs to either have it rebuilt or do a swap, but being a broke ass college student, is going to have to suffer with it for now.
