94 Jetta Axles
My friend had a 96 Golf 2.0L Auto and the trans is dead, no forward gears, so we got a trans out of a 94 Jetta GL 2.0 Auto. It is a different trans, I think the one out of the Golf was the CLK and the one that we have is a CLA. Only differences on the outside is this one has a dipstick where as the other was sealed, and the axles are different. Does the CLA trans use axles from a Manual trans? The axles in the Golf trans were sealed on the trans side and the axles out of the Jetta are not sealed, just like the Manual axles. Advance Auto had no clue, they went ahead and ordered the Manual axles to see if they would fit.
I tried doing a search on VW Vortex, but I either dont know how to use the search or they dont talk about anything technical there as I didnt find any results.

Re: 94 Jetta Axles
axles can very year/make specific. I would get axles for THAT year and THAT model and THAT transmission. Corollas and Camries are just as picky as vw's about axles. With that being said you need to order the correct ones because the ones you have will not work.

Yah, the thing is, Advance only listed one part number for auto axles for that specific year Jetta and they werent the right ones. We looked at pictures of the Manual axles and they looked like they are correct. I guess we will see when they get there tomorrow.
