Re: 92 GS-T
The two engines have different oil pans, among other changes.
Before the oil pan method was identified, the only way to 'tell' if you had a 7-bolt engine was the production date of the car. According to the staff of Conicelli Mitsubishi, cars produced between March, 1989 and the third week of April, 1992 have 6-bolt motors; May, 1992 to the first week of May, 1994 have 7-bolt motors.
Another way might be to check the front brakes. 7-bolt engines are associated with big brakes; cars that have big brakes often have 7-bolt engines. Unfortunately, nobody seems to know if this method is reliable or not.

the only way to truly be sure is to pull the tranny off and count the number of bolts that hold the flywheel to the crank shaft. 6 bolt just means you are less prone to crank walk, a dsm's worst nightmare.
With the head off might as well do cams, 264/264, or 264/272, thats a really good upgrade for the 4g63. Hard intercooler piping is another good one while you are there.
Since you are doing the timing belt, check on your balance shaft belt, that might need to be replaced. You have to pull the lower timing belt cover off to see it.
Also do your 'free mods.' Good to get you low 14s possible high 13s if you are a good driver.

Not sure what money you have, but you might want to think about getting your O2 housing and exhaust mani ported also
