Default 86 si swap

I have a mint 86 si but the motor has a wire issue and i am taking it out. I want to put a d16y8 motor in it. Can i use the harness that is already in the car and if so will i need a jumper harness.

you might be able to use parts of the harness, but you'll certianly need a "jumper" harness.

search for obd1 wiring swaps maybe?

I realize the engine is obd2, but you will be better off with an obd1 ecu.

but running a y8 with obd1 can be quite a trick, since base timing is 12* rather than 16* like most other hondas. It should be a fun swap though

If i were you, I would definately just get the 88-91 wiring harness and get a pm6 ecu chipped to run a y8. Sounds like a mess otherwise.

Note: People do this swap pretty frequently, so there must be a somewhat "easy" way to do it - IE: jumper harness of some sort like kyle was saying.

I have done this swap(but a z6) to my 86 civic si. Yes, you can use the original harness, and use a jumper harness or de-pin the computer plugs and use the obd1 plugs. you will still have to add wires for the ditributor,o2 sensor, vtec etc... You will also need a first gen integra transmission, front axels, hubs, trans mount, rear motor mount, and moify the front drivers side mount. You can also check this site out:
http://www.redpepperracing.com/forum...howtopic=20487

that is, if you are talking about a civic/crx

basically you need a first gen integra donor
