My friend has an 86 blazer with a slight problem. He was driving down the highway and his front driver side wheel kinda fell off. He thinks it is the front axle or tire rod. He just wants to know where he might be able to get it fixed for under $1500. Any help would be great.

 

damn if its just a front axle or tie rod it shouldnt cost nearly 1500 bucks, and if it does hes getting ripped off.........

 

He is probably going to have to get parts from a junkyard, and cross get help installing them (to keep it under $1500 or so).

If the wheel actually FELL off, chances are the axle is damaged, that wheel bearing is damaged, the hub and spindle are damaged, the rotor is damaged, the tire rod is damaged, any lower/upper control can be damaged, and a couple of other things.

Wheels dont just "fall off".

 

I'm the friend with the scrwed up Blazer. The wheel didn't actually fall off, it just slanted kinda. I went to pick up a friend of mine from Mahi-Mah's and when I was on the interstate something crakced or something and the wheel went from | to /. Like zwd85 said, it's a 1986 S-10 Blazer with a 3 inch lift. The guy I got it from messed it up anyway. All the wiring and shit is screwed up. It may not be worth it but I love that truck and I want to fix it up so it's nice.

 

HMMM....sounds to me like you broke a ball joint. is it driveable at all????

Yeah, it's not driveable. To start off, it was sitting at the tow place for a while so now the battery is crap. And two, if I try to move it, the wheel will fall of again.

How much could you do it for CHAHONDA? The guy that had it when we towed it said that it would cost $600 in parts alone but I tink he might have been trying to screw us b/c when they towed it back to my house a mechanic ran out of the shop and told him to give us his card b/c he wanted to buy it. So I don't know how much work actually needs to be done.

 

Also if anyone knows of a place that I can take my Blazer to that can look at it (under the hood) and tell me how much stuff is wrong and give me a quote on how much it would cost to fix it, I really would like to know where. I know there are a few more things that are wrong with my truck and I know a lot of you know where there are some good mechanics who won't cheat you.
