Re: 240sx engine swap help
its been done
twice
search on freshalloy.com&240sxforums
there are a couple of writeups
also, it requires custom everything
and for a reality check it huge amout of time and money would to be worth it @ all
heres the list imo
sr-not expensive, drop in install, capeable of 400-500hm on stock longblock
rb- (25,26) the skyline heart. super expensive, extreamly hard install, hard to find parts, HUGE power possible
vg30tt-stupid, plain stupid. weak motor, crazy hard install, weak power, heavy as shit
ls1- hey, its an option

Re: 240sx engine swap help
here are some swap sites
www.heavythrottle.com, www.jgycustoms.com, www.noyanusa.com,( www.venus-auto.com ) <~~~ really good two friends got two front clips from there cheap and great condition clips. If this is your first swap i would go for the front clip everything is there ( in my opinion it is the best way to go).

Re: 240sx engine swap help
I own both a 300ZxTT and and MGB with an SR20DET motor, I have also performed the swap into the 240. I highly recommend swapping the SR20DET instead of the VG30DETT, as others have told you. The VG30DETT is heavier, much larger, much harder to work on, and doesn't make much more power than a lightly modified sr20det (makes more torque). With the sr20, you maintain the i4 setup that was meant to be in the car, you maintain the light weight, you go turbo, and you have an engine that's easy to work on.
