is there even a 12 second prelude on this board?

i'd say start with a cai, then a good header setup, then your exhaust, then get some type S cams and upgrade your valvesprings, upgrade your clutch (do it now, seriously) get some tires, upgrade your ignition, upgrade your fuel system, tune it and spray it

i don't own a lude, but last I knew they had higher compression which isn't the best for turbocharging / supercharging (on a stock motor). If you're looking for a good clutch the obvious one that comes to mind is ACT (A-C-T, not like to act out something). As for an intake and headers, its not the best bang for your buck, and it definitely won't get you in the 12s, but they are reliable mods. A lightened flywheel isn't a bad idea, will help free up some hp

like reuter said, 12s for a prelude i imagine would be tough, i haven't heard of a 12 sec lude but I don't talk to many prelude guys either. If you want to go fast quick then get a nitrous kit and run a 75 shot. Or if you don't like nitrous and want to go all motor I'd look into a new camshaft & valve springs and get an AFC and some dyno tuning.

yea if im not mistaken h22s like to crack ringlands under boost, especially when its untuned. if i remember correctly, most people dont go over 7psi and plenty of people still blow at 7. if youre going to boost the motor and want a reliable, fast car, forge the bottom end. what sucks about the h22 is that it has to be sleeved to run a forged piston because of the way the stock sleeves are designed.

now's a good time to really think through what you really want to do. think of it this way...

a reliable 12 second 5th lude = build + boost
turbo setup - $3000
buildup - $2000
bolt-ons - $2000
fuel system - $500+
tire - $400
suspension - $1000
tuning - $1000

... looks like right around $10,000 in mods. i dont doubt you can get there cheaper, especially if youre a cheap ass about it. but shit does break, and i wouldnt want a nice 2001 prelude being a garage queen.

hope this helps. dont be scared though, you can always start out with the basic mods i/h/e and tune then work your way towards a build. it just always saves money to set your sights on a specific setup. but i guess hindsight is always 20/20 good luck

haha...nick whats wrong with a 2001 prelude being a garage queen! lol

Hey man, congrats on your purchase... i know you wont be disappointed. I would suggest you do some supsension mods first, then get a nice set of tires because the stock lude tires are horrible! After that i'd go with a simple i/e setup and if you want get some kind of stainless steel header. But if your really serious about getting into the 12's then i'd suggest once you get the car back send the motor to get it built. Im actually in the process of doing a little bit of building myself, so if you have any questions feel free to pm me!

Also...if your looking for some parts i have a AEM Cai, Apexi N1, Spoon header, and a brand new H22 OEM clutch kit For Sale....if your interested!

ok, im bored. so here goes.

The weak spot on your h22 motor is the ring lands and rods. If you want 12s your gonna need a turbo or a shitload of nitrous. I highly suggest rebuilding completely... If i had to do over again. This is what I'd do:

9.5:1 pistons (CP or whatever brand you prefer)
Rods (your choice of brand. I'd get full-race or eagle)
Titanium Valves/springs retainers (Full-Race is what i'd be getting)
Slight port and polish and head job.
You will HAVE to sleeve the block.
Not sure on cams, prolly leave the stockers in.

little stuff like fuel rail/fpr, cam gears, and ported tb and portmatched intake manifold.

Full-race now makes a turbo manifold for the h22 and i'd get that. With a turbo of your choice, you do the math. t3/4oe .60 maybe

Hondata or AEM depending on your preference and a J&S Safeguard to listen for knock/detonation.

That would get you into 12s with your prelude... maybe.
