Default 1990-93 miata intake help!

Alright, so I have a 1993 miata and I would like take out the stock airbox and put in a cone filter (cheaply). The problem is the airflow meter has a 2x2in square opening, and of course the cone filter is round. Thus the problem is connecting the two. I could solve this problem by buying $200 air filter kit, but I would rather make one myself.

Short version: If anyone has any tips, ideas or knows how to connect the 90-93 miata AFM to a 3 in cone filter, without spending $200, please help. Thanks!

They have adapters. They are cheap.

This is better than $200 but still not cheap: http://www.miatamania.com/Shop/ViewP...eIndexID=73410
remember you generally get what you pay for
From what I've heard you'll get the best results with just a K&N drop in filter if you're not going to do the RB or JR intake systems

If your gonna toss down around 200 for an intake mod, your better off going with megasquirt and removing the AFM altogether

true

no matter what filter you put there, your bottle neck is the 2x2 square

just make sure you have a friendly mechnic who will pass the car after that
of course the OP doesn't have money so it's sort of a moot point anyway

look on fleabay for some really cheap kits. i know you already have the filter, but they have the entire kit for about 10-15 bucks. worth a look.

Thanks, I think I might get the really cheap adapter. I was hoping to be able to DIY (in the spirit of it), but it would probably fall apart. Also, get what you pay for.

and to get around the 2x2 AFM, is it possible to put a 94+ miata AFM in without any changes? I know you can put a 87-88 rx-7 AFM in with only a few adjustments.
