I plan on buying a 1987 200sx with over 200K. I plan on doing an engine swap; however, I have no experience with nissan engines. What engine would fit in here besides the stock 4 cylinder CA20E. I'm not really try to race it or anything but something with a little more horsepower. I do not want to spend to much on an engine like over 700 and hopefully I can get some help in installing the engine myself so I can keep the cost down. Can anyone point me in the right direction either locally or online to find good engines at a fair price. I know you can get engines at pick-and-pull; how much would they run? Thanks in advance for all comments.

You might be able to overhaul the original engine yourself for ~700. Could swap in CA18ET, CA18DET, VG30E, or even SR20. I would say your best bet based on what you say you want would be to find a CA18ET and get it in good running shape and then maybe exhaust ( to stay low budget ). My .02

Also that engine you mentioned, how much hp? I would like an engine that would fit right in, and I wouldnt hvae to buy any more mounts or do any additional work, thanks!
