Re: 03 Impala: runs for short time and stalls.
Just got off the phone with the owner. I had no idea but he just told me the cats are gutted on it... ive had a lot of O2 sensors go bad on most of my trucks but they have never caused much problem.. could the reading on the O2 sensors have that much of an effect on that car?

Not generally, no. You might get some stumbling or driveability issues, but I can't imagine it would have as much effect as you're seeing. It might be possible that whatever the actual problem is gets amplified slightly by O2 sensor interaction with the gutted cat.

It definitely wouldnt be the passlock or passkey anti theft systems. They wouldnt allow it to run that long before shutting off...they usually only allow it crank but not turn all the way over. Also, if you have failed attempts to start it or it shuts down, they will also sometimes shut you out of the system for like 10-15 minutes.
Do those cars have EGR valves? I know on some older gms ive owned, if an EGR valve is stuck open or closed it will cause issues after 10 minutes or so as the engine climbs in temp.
