The car is a 2002 Civic EX 5spd.

As I was driving on the highway the other day, while I was taking an exit the car just shut off. Every time I tried to start the car, it will turn on and then immediately shut off. As it shuts off it would backfire as well.

So far I've done the following:

-Changed throttle body
-Fuel pump
-Fuel Rail/injectors
-Engine Harness (one of my vacuum hoses looked like it was chewed by a rat)


I've spent two days on this already and I've spoken with several local mechanics and they have no idea either. They were the ones that suggested to replace the parts I listed above. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

Did you try and swap ECU's with anyone?

 

what does any of this have to do with a backfire? try ecu, distributor, timing belt, or spark plugs.

 

prouble distributor, smilar thing happend to my 98 ex.

 

check spark and timing maybe ignightor

 

yeah,the backfire tells me check the dizzy

 

This is an OLD thread but......an 02 civic....doesnt have an ignitor....or a distributor.

 

I hope the problem was solved... three years ago..
