Default 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST

Name: Jesse
Location: Rocky Mount NC
Means of contact: text 704-418-5747
Price: $3995

Description: I have for sale a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST (turbo) 5spd. 4cyl. 4G63 engine. It has 199k miles but is in great running condition. no reasonable offer will be refused. I am really just interested in finding a Miata.

this is a complete breakdown of the car just as it sits. if you have a question about anything not listed or any other questions please text or call me at (704)41eight-5747. Btw I do live in Rocky Mount NC but I have a Charlotte area code on my number (I used to live there).

Thanks for looking. Jes

Interior:
It could not be in better condition.

seats, etc. are perfect and still has the cargo cover for the hatch area. i did dispose of the factory floormats as the bottom rubber side was coming apart and leaving crumbs all over the place. it has black rubber floor mats now. I installed a short shift kit that is adjustable, it has 2 settings. I installed a a aftermarket eclipse "double deck" cd player that has a stock appearance. it has a ipod hookup that allows controlling of the ipod through the radio. i hid the hookup in the ash tray so there is no ashtray. (btw myself and the fist owner were non-smokers) The windows are tinted, i'd say 40% if that. they are cleanly done and were recently redone before i purchased the car. The seats are emaculate. no wear at all and the carpet is not stained. interior is a light blueish gray color with darker seat centers. the sunroof is aftermarket. it does not leak or have any problems and the previous owner saved all the information and instructions on it. it works perfect. the downside is the headliner is slightly lower than normal. not hanging just lower.

headliner is showing age on the edges, at the windshield and on the shade of the sunroof only. it does not hang but has these worn edges. the reason is do to it being lower it sat just below (maybe 1/2 inch) the top of the windshield and the sun got to it. i put a black vinyl strip on the windshield that covers it up from view and sun exposure.

speakers pop if music is blarring. i dont turn it up alot, fiance does not like loud music.

if you wish to swap radios that is not an issue to me. just a little work. if we swap at my home i have 12k in tools, i'm sure we can get it done.

exterior:
(exterior is in decent shape so for sake i will only list flaws)
spoiler paint is faded, only faded paint on car. original owner said he added it on. rs type 3 post spoiler added at the dealership he purchased from in florida.

rims are like new no curbing. these are factory chrome wheels he also paid and added. came with same wheels but with gray alloy finish and he purchased the chrome ones. tires are kumho solus. all match but nearing wear bars. drivers front wheel has one broken lug of 5. i never got around to repairing it. if i still have the car when i put ties on it i would but im not concerned with it. brakes have plenty of pad and i have turned the rotors once since i purchased it.

black rubber molding around top of door glass was worn, showing the metal underneath, i stripped off the cracked off rubber and sprayed them black to clean it off. noone looks or notices.

frontside of mirrors has chipping in paint from bugs rocks and whatnot.

hood has small dent about the size of a fist by the passenger headlamp at the front. could be worked out if you know anyone doing paintless repairs or one of those "seen on tv" kits.

the fog lamps are missing as seen in the pics. and there is some curbing from driving to far up to a parking space.

drivers side door has lower molding that blends with the rocker panel. it cracked on him somehow and his mechanic put it straight and filled the crack with some kind of bond. nothing to notice unless you are up on it.

other than those minor things the exterior is great for its age and really is with its age still great condition. the paint is always faded on these cars but only the spoiler on this one.

Running:

The first thing i did when i purchased the car was order a timing belt kit.including both the idler belt and timing belt, all bearings and tensioner, water pump and gaskets. thats a good thing for you because trust me. this is an aggravating engine to time. i made sure it was perfect several revolutions before i was satisfied.

doing the timing i had to remove the valve cover. the engine was free of gunk on the top end, looked very good.

there is a cone filter on it but i believe it was a mits. accessory as the first guy had a reciept for it being installed at the dealership and it is a direct bolt on, no adapters.

the a/c line o-ring started leaking so i replaced, pulled vacuum, leak tested and recharged. works fine

I was running thicker oil this summer and it needs to be changed to say 10w-30. on cold start the turbo makes a faint dribble noise until the oil warms up. normally by the time you get to 3rd gear it has completely quieted down. Trust me it boosts fine and after the oil warms up it is completely sound. Someone not used to a turbo would not recognized it at all. but changing to a lighter oil should stop the noise.

i installed a viper alarm system with remote start. a remote start is only unsafe in a manual if the operator makes a bad decision. the remote start does have a cut off switch to make it not operate. but this does make the car able to start without the clutch engaged. i drove alot of old germans so im used to it.

i dont care too much for the alarm, they can be aggravating more than helpful, but i wanted remote door locks and remote start.

there are no performance parts here. the turbo is stock. it does have that awesome blowoff sound but it is not very loud. it recirculates the air back through the intake. if you want it loud you have to adapt a vent to air blow off valve. sounds cool as hell but it bogs the car down when you decelerate. they do make combined vent to air/ recircualte bov's.

i have all 3 original keys, only one has been actively used by me or the new owner. the second key looks like it was just cut and the third is a wallet key. i have the boos as well as some records i believe and his info on the sunroof.

that is all and everything i can think off. i would drive this car anywhere. in fact i do. i have put over 12k miles on it in around 6 months. the only reason im looking at trades is that this was not what i was looking for but i stumbled on it and made a deal.

Sweet car. If it was a 2gb with leather it would already be sitting in my driveway. Good luck!
