You need to get the ECU chipped. If you get that P72, you'll need to get the knock sensor and the IAB (secondary intake runners) in the program, and you should probably run a B16 program at the very least unless you're going to get tuned.

You're better off getting a P28. They're cheap, plentiful, and don't have a knock sensor board. You should still get it chipped with a better program for that engine though (the stock program for a P28 is for a D16Z6, etc). A P28 is the same hardware as a P30 but without a knock sensor board (and they obviously come with different programs from the factory).

P72s are more expensive and you don't need any of the hardware that makes them different from a P28.

i plan on doing the swap in about 2 n a half weeks. i am going to get it tuned but not right after i put the swap in, i have the money to do everything at once just want to maintain my bank acoount above a certain level u kno. so yeah a tune is def in the schedule just not as soon as i put the swap in. so as far as getting a tune a couple weeks after i put the swap in if i get a obd1 ecu and have it chipped would i b straight until i got a tune, as in not messing up anything or throwing any codes.

If I'm not mistaken you need a OBD2A to OBD1 jumper harness (96-99 Integra) not obd2b. And like others have said go with P28 ecu although a usdm P72 will work also. You'll need hondata s300 or similar to disable features like iab and knock.

96 and 97 are obd2a 98 up are obd2b, i plan on just doing a stock ls-v with just i/h/e thats it so do i really need to get it tuned right away. what about just taking the jdm p72 and getting it chipped to not look for a knock sensor and iab?
