VLSD, 240sx, sandblasting.
I bought a VLSD for $100. When I got it it was in pieces. The outside of the pumpkin is covered in surface rust.
how much and where do i get something sandblasted?
is a VLSD expesive to have built and/or is it difficult?
Will post pictures if need be.

I reread your post...to put one together. Certainly isn't a walk in the part. There are write ups for it for sure. You have the hard part done, it is already NOT in the car. So, did it come with a ring gear? If not you have to take out your whole diff before you can use it. Kaaz has write up out there somewhere, I used it when I put my nismo diff in....twice (I got ripped off on my first diff I got). You have to make sure you torque everything down correctly - it is not easy to put 70ft/lbs on a ring gear if you don't have a vice grip. Anyway, let me know everything it came with and I can tell you how much it is going to suck to do it.

It certainly does have the ring, but I am not sure if ABS and non ABS rings are different. You will need to get new bearings (82.50 a piece from the dealer) and new seals (around 32 dollars a piece from the dealer). If you want, I have a VLSD w/ brand new bearings on it I was selling for 100 bucks (it would save you 60+ dollars). And it isn't all rusted, that way you can use the half shafts you have, and if you really need to use your ring gear you can use your diff housing as well, saving the need to sandblast the other housing. You'll need to figure out how to clean those half shafts for sure though - they are the hard to find part.
