Default motorcycle engine powered.....

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but if it isn't then moderators help me out. Anyway, a friend of mine came across a motorcycle engine and wants to build something with it. I said 4 wheeler at first, but he has convinced me to build a gokart. I'm just trying to figuring out what we are going to do and see if anyone has any advice. I'm pretty good with autocad and we know how to weld, so we should be able to get this thing built well. its a 600cc engine, we have everything we need to go with it. the bike was wrecked but around the chassis around the engine is good, so we were thinking about using it to mount the engine to the kart. im not sure about suspension and overall design. i just started looking around, trying to research, and figured id ask on here for some advice.

A lot of the engineering schools do a thing called formula sae where they do a similar thing. I'm sure they spend more money on it than you'd want to, but you'll be able to get some ideas. they use a 600 cc CBR engine on a go-kart sized chassis along with some fairly advanced suspension set ups. here's a link to virginia tech's team page. http://www.vtmotorsports.com/ Goodluck.

yea that looks sweet as shit. very similiar to what i had in my mind. we'll have to see what we can come up with. im sure it isnt going to be as nice as that, like u said, we arent looking to spend a fortune on this. im going to try to use some of their ideas though. the suspension is what id like to work on the most. i want to learn as much as i can and design a nice suspension.
