So my motorcycle (engine) is no more
Long story short, an hour of nova traffic and my air coole bike dont mix, overheated. After some testing, it looks like it is probably my piston rings. Still have some more trouble shooting to do, but I'll probably have to replace or rebuild the engine. Sigh, and I was so close to swapping a new engine into my car, now that will probably have to wait.

That doesn't sound right.
My 1983 Honda Ascot VT500 was water cooled; but there was no coolant and the pump didn't work. So I just drove it while it was getting air cooled, for about 3 years. On the way back on a 90 degree day from a Tides game it stalled on me 3 different time due to overheating.
Bike still started and performed great!
Your bike should stall out before any major damage occurs...............at least in my experience. Are you sure that there isn't another problem? Other than the overheating?

should be able to find another motor for it cheap but its weird that it died like that. A couple of years ago I read about a woman who was doing iron butt rally rides with her seca and it did a crazy amount of mileage without ever overheating or having any real problems. I've had 2 bikes overheat on me and they both shut off or stalled then after they cooled they ran fine
