And as some more research, the slaves that were in the south were purchased from Africa, not captured. They where already slaves of their own people, this does not make it right, but do not act like the south was the first people who have slaves.

I'm itallian/irish. In the early 1900s there was nothing lower on the food chain then an itallian man in NY. Irish people are still a big joke (we just like to drink ). Every race in the history of the world has experienced some sort of slavery. People will not stop until the confederate flag is equated to the nazi flag.

The 'Confederate' flag or dixie flag as you call it was never the offical banner of the Confederacy. It was a battle banner. It was a symbol of rebellion. It stood for rebellion against the current form of government, rage against the machine, defense of your way of life. It was never a sign of racial hatred. That has been assumed so much over the years that it has become less and less folk lore and more assumed history. If enough people believe it, it must be true right? The people who fly it today do not do it because they hate blacks, they fly it as a symbol of remembence of their heritage or their way of life, a rebellion from the corruption of their current government. Just as some of you buy a cuban banner, or african or whatever to show where your roots come from and your pride, the rebel flag has come to symbolize a place to, a place where people should not have to be ashamed to be from and wave it proudly.

 

This means there is a regional divide......How dumb would you think a guy was when he got out of his ford f150 with a "rebel" confederate flag and you said Whats up and he spoke with the thickest Bar harbour Maine accent you've ever heard ......Wouldnt you say he didnt get it because he was born north of the Imfamous mason/dixon line?........So if this flag is for rebellion only purposes I guess in some sick way the slaves that were fought over in the "North vs. South" conflict could represent the fact that they rebel against the slavery policy.....Or the Iraqi pplz should have waved the confederate flag when the USA toppled the Saddam statue.....Come on man this flag was to be the flag of the devided states if the south had stood ther ground better....Im white I have a half black step son and I take offense to most ignorant ass southern hicks seemingly thinking they represent anything other than Racism.....Its a stigma that will never go away, the whole idea had stink on it from day one.....Its kinda like altezza's now a days, If you have them your considered rice....You may have them and be the fastest cat on the east coast but at a glance the stigma of Altezza's is rice, plain and simple.......I dont want a flag that represents where im from because my mind has no flag, I am my own person i think and act for myself therefor I am representing me (an induvidual) not a fucking piece of land that I was anonomously born on......thats it.....My rant is done.....

 

Way to stereotype all southerners. THe Confederate Flag(AKA the REBEL flag) did represent the south and showed their objection to the government at that time. DO some research, fuck what they teach you in public schools, do you actually take their fucking textbooks seriously? The laws being passed at that time benefited the North, mainly because there was a higher population in the North. The North relied on factories to produce goods to ship out, while the South relied on agriculture. THere was a constant struggle for power between the two areas. When the South realized that they could not balance the power through the government, they took matter into their own hands. States Rights. They rebelled against the present form of government, is that so wrong? Meanwhile most Northerners had never seen a black person, yet they were fighting for them?! dont fool yourself. The southern army fought till the death, with less soldiers, supplies, and weapons. Would they fight like that in order to keep slaves? They could only fight like that in order to defend their families and beliefs. Its that simple. I have a confederate flag, if you dont understand I really cant explain it. It holds a certain sense of nostalgic pride, while remembering what happened, and also showing your own opinions. If you dont like it then done have one, but dont think Im racist because I have one. Educate yourself instead...
