first of all, you will never achieve perfect fuel/air mix so you have to choose one. i choose to run rich. true neither is good in extreme amounts but your car came from the factory running one or the other.

and second, before buying anything on e-bay just be sure to know what you're buying, just like if you went to your neighborhood speed shop. just makes sense to me. i would never buy anything for my car just because someone told me it was good for my car. when buying anything put a little research into it. in most cases you didn't come up with the money overnight, why make the decision overnight.

do these ecu chips only help in cars with a manual tranny, or would it be helpful for performance in an automatic? cause im looking for SOMETHING that will help my over all pickup and speed.

Are you running a honda ?

If so most of the aftermaret ECU chips are design for Manuals.

actually most chips i've heard of are tranny specific. they are a big help especially if you have an electronically controlled slushbox. An ECU can reset all your shiftpoints and shift conditions, also allowing for much quicker shifts. this is almost as beneficial as installing a shiftkit for your tranny....

obviously you drive an import....
one of the biggest advantages of owning a late model automatic domestic is the ability to dramatically improve tranny performance without even touching the tranny itself. Ask any automatic domestic driver who's done much work electronically controlled slush boxes. ECU's are a godsend!
