You won't have as much displacement with a GSR block (87.2mm stroke vs the LS with 89mm stroke) but their is no modifaications necessary when putting the B16 head on the GSR block.

Which is better? Depends on who you ask. The more displacement you have, the more power you can make. You can buy an LS block cheaper than you can buy a GSR block, so you could take that extra money you saved by using the LS, and buy aftermarket rods so you can still rev to 8k. More power, better built engine, for cheaper.

I've seen your other posts, and you seem a little confused on what you want to do. Can you let us know what your goals are, and how much your willing to spend?

i am very confused....haha. I want all motor 13's atleast. Im not rich but i have some extra cash. Well i have a complete b16 head already and im just going to build the block outside of my car then trying to throw the head on the existing ls motor in my car. Im not looking for a fully built motor, but i was thinking, ls bottom, golden eagle ls/vtec kit, arp gsr head studs, b16 stock pistons and rings, eagle rods, and arp rod bolts. i would like to use the vtec power band as far as possible, but not to damage the bottom end.

i agree with JAYdm all the way. its all about who u ask. i have had an ls/vtec and i didnt feel like it was producing the power i expected. i also was running a ls transmission which made it 10 times worse and i started with a stock p28 ecu, with a p72 ecu it ran good. it went 14.4 with a p30 ecu. but if i were to choose between the things ur asking, i would grab a b18c1 block, toss the b16 head on it and run a poormans type r. i also would get an itr tranny (saw one for sale on here for 700 earlier today) and some itr or ctr cams (itr and ctr have different exhaust cams, ctr is more agressive) and a p72 ecu. that right there will put u in the 13s.

as for my old ls/vtec well the head was sumpered on a newer b18b1 block, with a j1 (crx sir b16a) tranny and it should run 13s. so both will produce power. just depends on how much u wanna put into it.
