16valves own all of you! hehe
why would you like the VR6 more than the 1.8t? I'm looking for actual fact, not "just because". I've been curious of this for some time. There is a clear divide in the MK4 world as to which engine is better. Ultimately its up to the owner. In my eyes the only thing the VR6 has over the 1.8t is its sound. Damn they sound good. And 24v are nothing special either. Shit, I got 20v, am I special?

let's see:
pronoun misuse. active, not passive voice in a research paper. plagiarism (no citing of sources and misuse of quotes). ending a sentence with a preposition.

further:
i thought VW afficianados use the term "Mod" not "Mark" denoting 'generational' chassis. what about 8 valve, air and water cooled dubs? they certainly have their merits.

just bustin' your balls. learn to write!

greygti: now that im thinking about 1.8t's and Vr6's i like the Vr6's better because, they sound a lot nicer, i like their design and ever since i started learning about them i liked them a lot more, they have smoother power delivery, they are faster stock, and overall i love driving on the highway

now im not saying that vr6's are better they both have their advantages and disadvantages, this is just a personal opinion. the 1.8t is a lot cheaper to mod and there's a couple things i'd get before running it as fast as i could for example get a new bypass valve for they always get stuck and get a ceramic turbine for the turbo (for higher RPM revs).

The design sucks other than the fact that its compact (dimension wise) for its displacement. They are not faster stock v. stock, and I am willing to back that up. I have more torque down low as well and I'll back that up with dyno sheets if you'd like to see 'em.

I still love you though pat.

from what ive always thought stock vs. stock id take a 1.8t over the vr6. as far as mods go, taking a motor that is already built and turbo'd stock will respond much friendlier to the modifications as opposed to an all motor setup would. i do think the vr6 would have a better useable power curve down low, though i may be wrong. then again, im a honda guy, what do i know?

Greygti: yes im with you on that! the 1.8t's do have more torque than the VR6's and if you take same basic bolt-on's (I,H,E,TAIL-LIGHTS,etc.) the 1.8t will be faster

P.S.
should i say i love you too back or would that be a gay statement? well whatever im not gay for christ sake my gf's pregnant...

VW's site which compares the 2 setups, both in GTI's:
