getting License in North Carolina, Insurance MANDATORY without car???
Hey bud if you dont have a service bill with a NC address..IE electric, water , or gas you won't be getting a license in the state of NC. Before you argue about it I live here...
The days of getting a P.O BOX or a bank statement are long gone...proof of residency is required.

All my bills are in my girls name.... How would I go about proving residency?
Not that I care... I live in VA and have a VA DL. Just curious.
You are wrong

You have to have something that says you live in the state...bank statement isnt gonna cut it. My bank account is in VA can I get license there no. Im just telling you what i had to do to get mine....don't go to Moyock or E city and try it. Maybe in the bigger cities they don't do it because they aren't so close to the border.....
My bank account is not tied to any location, it is tied to a bank... I don't even step in my bank other than when I opened the account. I fail to see where this statement is going.
SJ - my bad, I re-read it and it doesn't sound very clear
you already posted the easiest method, i shoulda just left it alone.
As in what SpeedJunkie mentioned, NC law states a bank statement will work to establish residency. If VA law says you can use a bank statement to prove residency then you can get a license here. It just has to have a VA address.
First time i was going to do this, it took 10 min to change my address to a friend's house in Raleigh. Once i got a copy of the statement they mailed i just needed to drive to Elizabeth City DMV to activate.
In reality, i never made it down so I had my friends write a lease for me and fax it up here. I now have a lease for a place in NC that i just need to date when i'm ready. It's really not that hard of a concept.

Anyway, OP, check VA law (it's on the DMV website) about proving residency in this state and help a brotha out.
