If you want to keep the motor happy and alive keep the lift on the cam under .600 for intake and exhaust and keep the revs below 7k. When you put bigger cams in with very high lift you end up needing to service the valve springs much more often and even then they're still more prone to random breakage. You can build an LSX to take any RPM you want, but all the guys who spin them over 7k all the time end up building new motors more often. Danny Pop, Wally Hessami, etc. etc. like to turn near 8000 rpms. They sound amazing though!

What's the deal with that shifter? Is it one where you don't have to use the clutch once your moving? Is it a H-pattern still? The removable panel is a good idea. In the Panoz the entire trans tunnel cover comes out.

You going to try and make the UTCC weekend?

Oh... and is the steering rack going to be repositioned? As it sits I can't think of a pan that will fit in that gap.

I don't know the lift off the top of my head but remember it being lower than .6. I was planning on setting the limiter at 7 but it all depends on what the dyno looks like.

The shifter is a LONG shifter, the trans is an H-Pattern dog engagement 4 speed. You don't need to use a clutch to shift. You do need to rev match down shifts to prevent locking the rear wheels.

Would love to make the UTCC weekend but I don't know if that will happen, was planning on racing the E30 that weekend though.

And the stock F-Body pan is supposed to clear the cross member and steering rack although I haven't seen it first hand. That's the pan the mounts were designed to be used with. I also got this baffle for the pan.

A couple more pictures of the engine when I finished the bottom end and the trans and throwout bearing.

Sweet setup... you may not need an accusump with that fancy trap-door piece.

I've heard good things about it from some of the guys that road race cars with f body pans. I think I might run an extra quart or so to be safe? An accusump sure would be a nice insurance policy though.

I always run mine about a 1/2 quart above the full mark which equates to 1 quart over. Never had issues, but then again the C5 pan has the "wings" on the pan.

Thinking about using a 2nd Gen MR2 electric power steering pump. Some interesting info on it here.

Long Day. Finished the Trans X-Member. It's not a show piece but it will definitely serve its purpose. Added an Energy Suspension urethane bushing to the top. Looks pretty cool. Thanks Zak for the help. Rear subframe reinforcement plates and E36 M3 solid mounted differential install tomorrow. Tired.
