Odd question for people in hampton roads.
yea... i thought that I was going to get a name drop...
Guys.. I dont think that he is wanting to cruise.. I think he is asking if people want to be his licensed rider while he learns so that he can legally use his permit. Just because he drives around the neighborhood does not make him legal. And what would the harm be in somebody giving the kid some pointers?

riding around the neighborhood does not require a license, you can do that if you have a permit. different rules for a motorcycle i think from what i recall. either way, someone should definitely give him pointers as long as its not some retard who thinks they are a know it all.

Now, if he wants someone to meet him in say a court in his neighborhood, or an empty parking lot im sure many people would.
No harm in pointers at all, but thats not what he's asking for. I dont know anyone(if you do by all means let him know) who will ride with someone else who only has one days experience and failed the MSF. I also saw some people there get their licenses I wouldn't be comfortable with, it takes ALOT to fail it.

It is not actually a coarse.. it is a test... which I can guarantee that a lot of the people that are licensed and have commented in this thread... could not do they slalom-double U-turn on their sport bike. It is actually rather difficult (on a sport bike). Now if you have a dirt bike or a Reble 250.. it is pretty simple.
I can tell you what he is saying. He went to DMV... got his permit. Held it for 30 days. Bought a bike... has riden about the equivelant of 1 days worth of riding (probably off and on over a period of time). Then he went to take his test at DMV and tried to do the coarse. When doing the slalom with the double right hand U-turns without going over the yellow lines, he put his foot down. Which is an automatic falure. Now he is wanting to get a little more ride time in before taking his test again.
But in order to legally do so. You have to have a license rider accompany you while you ride on a permit. And you cannot do so after dark.
I am pretty sure that he is not talking about going out and hitting the corners or anything. I think he just wants somebody else around that knows what they are doing. You can learn alot from watching somebody ride.
EDIT:... In fact.. I would go as far as to say... that I would like to meet a couple people at the DMV on Princessanne and Independance. And see who can do the tests on their sport bikes. I would put money on about 75%-80% of the people that try it. Will not be able to do it the first time (which is required by DMV).
So... Lets do this!

I did the same thing he did when I first got my bike, except I rode around for a month and still failed the dmv test. I wouldn't have rode with me then either.
The coUrse you are referring to fairlady is not a class, it is a one time do it and its done. Obviously not what he said he did. Id rather him talk and clarify what he's done/asking for then listen to you go on and on.

I did take the class but I screwed up the easy turn that I had no problem with all earlier that day. I downshifted for no reason, which took about all the points it could and since I put my foot down in the uturn that gave like 2 points to fail. I didnt ride out in public till after the class though I just figured that mentioning I screwed up in class might get people to just completely blow the idea off.
Rules for having a permit.
