Skunk probably saw you as a cheap ass who probably slacked elsewhere.

thats my $.02 and i've seen it soooooooo many times. sorry
I can understand that seeing how its a easy way for them to skimp out. As far as price they are priced around the same ball park, depending on where you get them, some sell them for more, some for less. But I was also running ITR cams first,so its not like i exactly planned to buy cams,im sure if I would have been buying everything at once I most likely would have got springs/retainers/and cams all from one company, but would have def gone with Rocket. Brian, the one who handles claims and all,has not even returned my calls or emails telling me if they are or are not covered. Did yours break on start up or driving?

so in the end, does brand affect performance? or do different brands of say 'stage 2' cams have different specs?

Yes stage two cams from different companies have different specs. The manufacturer tell you the specs so you can see for yourself.. just do some research.

PS. if you want help deciding which cams to run, post up your set up,goals and intentions.
No, do not say fuck Skunk2 products. I've had nothing but success with Skunk2 products including their cams.

There is more to the story other than, my cams broke and they didn't cover it.

I had a friend who rocked Skunk2 valve springs and retainers for his LS, when they first came out and had crower 404 cams. He dropped a valve and blew his motor. He called skunk2, explained his situation and Skunk2 ended up sending him another set of valve springs and retainers(he asked for vtec ones this time for his new motor).

I've only ran three sets of cams and valve springs and retainers.

Skunk2 Pro1s (skunk2 valve train) but with AEM 5 bolt cam gears.
Crower 404 cams(crower valve train) with AEM 3 bolt cam gears.
ITR cams(stock for now )(supertech valvetrain soon) w/ AEM 5 bolt cam gears.

I'd stick with the same company for all your head stuff. Thats just my own opinon.(obviously its different when you are turbo but I'm sticking with a o.e. cam)

I'm a skunk2 person, I recommend their camshafts for everything. So I'm a little biased.

I <3 skunk2 as well. They've been great for me. I'll continue to use their products as I do know they also back them up if everything is their brand..

plus their shit is just pretty

i havent seen too much thumbs down for skunk2 and their set up. on preludepower, there's a guy with skunk2 head, stage 2 cams... a pretty cool build... making 225 whp.

http://preludepower.com/forums/showt...=295798&page=1

for those interested. I just wanted to see if brand made a difference, and I guess it can.

thanks again, fellas

Well, whenever I get around to saving up enough money, I'll ask around and research more seriously. in the meantime, this was just curiosity.
