honestly do not pay over msrp, id get a 650r before i spent that, it was very controlable power. people have pretty much covered it, if you can get the 250 for the 3.5k, its a great investment, if someone is saying 5-6k fuck that noise, you can get a brand new 650r for aorund there, and the full fairing 08 sv650 which is hot business.

Anywho, GL on your decision/choice, you and your wife wont regret it, they are a ton of fun, just always ride safe

that's ridiculous. for that much i can get a nice motard.

great beginner bike but in the end, it is still a 250 and not worth that ridiculous amount.

man, to tell you the truth... get something else... you have MANY options you can get a used bandit 600, SV 650 (that's what i ride, and its slow.. but it handles well and its light), a used CBR 600 (like a F4-F3-F2) <<< i think those ar esweet... helll even a FZ600 << that's kind of a tall bike for a female tho... the rest of the bikes i mentioned arent bad, but you can lower the a tad for your wife that way she's comftable.. i mean, lowering a bike (unlike a car) i cheap as FUG... just get a longer link for the rear (about $20 shipped on ebay) and the front is FREE..

my advice is not to narrow your options down... FUCK A SALESMAN!!!! there's plenty of good deals on bikes out there.... and you can pro buy 2 of any of the above bikes for the price that salesman gave you out the door

good luck..

yeah the guy even told me he could get me a new gs500f for only a couple hundred more than the 250. the reasons he stated were because of 'gas prices', but i understand completely that if people are paying that much for them why not take their money?

just won't be me though.

one way or the other, my wife is pretty much dead set on getting a black 08+ ninja 250, and she's extremely hard headed. we're not totally out of options, out of state dealers are only a phone call away. if we have to wait for it then i suppose that'll just be how it happens...

if you guys happen to come across anything that helps me out, i'll greatly appreciate it.

Strip the stickers it could be a good looking bike.

Not sure if it's still available

I got a 1999 500r Memorial weekend, and think it's a great bike for my n00b arse. Plus my wife wants it when I decide to upgrade or she divorces me.

haha, let's hope it's the former, not the latter.

good find, that is a sick deal... i'd jump all over it but like i said, this is her bike so she has the final say. omg she can be thick-headed when it comes to shit she wants, too...

If it comes down to her liking the full fairing look, there is a guy who makes a mid panel for the 2nd gen 500r's.

This pic is borrowed from another forum, but could use it to coerce her more.
