yo man, i've been sliding my 240sx for the past 4 years on nothing but an old vlsd. started out with super hicas which is going the wrong way as per drifting. i met a buddy from lookoutdrift and he helped with a junkyard rear subframe. and i got a k&n filter for christmas that year. and an ebay rear strut bar. and "buying 300zx wheels at the 'yard" won't be cheap cuz then you got to convert to five lug, don't forget that guru.
point: the best stuff to buy when you're learning to drift at all is tires. tires tires tires. you probably coulda bought 3 whole sets with the money you've already spent on stuff that i haven't even replaced for years. granted my car feels like a bag of ass right now but that's with 220k miles on it. and she still slides.

I may be slightly outta my element here but I'd say learing to drive should come first on the to do list. Take all the mod money and spend it on a driving school.

very true statement.
You should at least consider a few upgrades. Most of these cars are almost 20years old.
At very minimum buy:
Coilovers
welded diff
driver mods most important.

I used to be a drift guru of sorts. I owned an '88 RX-7 convertible that i'd drift occasionally, and I was into the drifting scene long before it blew up in the states.
240SX....heres what i'd do. Try to find a little bit wider wheel.....maybe a used set of 300ZX wheels....or if you can find them for cheap, some newer Z or G35 wheels. DO NOT get a staggered setup.

all of those wheels minus i guess the NA 300zx wheels are staggered setups width wise

I started about 5 years ago in the snow with my FWD Neon (ebraking). Didnt get a 240 until a year and a half ago. Slid Open Diff for a while and now VLSD. Struts Springs 17" on front, 15" on back, and decent Power. Faint, Clutch kick or shift lock to initiate and if your good and practice just use throttle control and weight distribution to carry the track.. Keep those wheels spinning fast. Practice on the streets every weekend and wreck once or twice. Then you will be on your way. The best thing I ever did was wreck at 50mph onto some trees in Hampton- Now I know my cars capabilities and I push them with every mod.
