Toyota FJ Cruiser or Ford Edge?
If you aren't considering anything else, including a much more frugal solution, then get the edge and be done with it. It will do whatever you want and has the stuff you want and will tow that loaf of bread on wheels.
I just averaged a litte over 19 in my 2003 F150 on my little trip i just got back from..
Definately the Edge in my opinion. Sharpest looking cross-over out there. If I was to buy an SUV that is what I would buy. I have read reviews on the Edge about how reliable and well built they are.
The FJ is different in good way, but it's not something I would be able to drive daily.

Why don't you buy a piece of crap truck for balloon stuff and something that actually gets really good mileage for a daily? I mean, how long and how often are you really in the balloon tow rig really? Basing the purchase of your daily driver on something you do every once in a while is dumb in my opinion.

Actually, the only addition is the glass roof. I'd recommend going on Ford.com and pricing one out. If you got the base model you might be able to just squeeze in over $30K, but I priced the Limited with the same options as you and got it for just over $32K or so from both AAFES and Beach Fords Internet pricing

Well that's good to hear. I like the FJ too, but I'm starting to think the Edge is going to just be a much more practical choice. I'm not ruling anything out until I've driven both though.
