Why put a girdle on it if your just putting a top end on it? If your planning on building a motor in the future, just do it then. There are plenty of stock block cars making 500hp with no girdle.

 

Just put in a 408 and be done with it.

The 302 wont eat it ever, they're indestructable.

But if you want to get a good package, I reccomend Fordstrokers.com. I peiced together a full stroker shortblock + heads and a custom cam and it was like $3500. All you'd need is an intake and a tune and you could easily make 380-400whp.
