you guys are funny. please try to read the guy's original post. His engine is 170K plus and he has no money for rebuid in case it breaks down. consider the guy doesn't know any thing about mechanic which will cost him a lots just to maintain the turbo, leak, tunning ect. and in case of any wrong stuffs. i am sure you can go turbo with stock engine but how long will it last if you drive like a maniac? most of my friends turboed cars did not last more than 1.5 year.

Well, it ran good. It wasn't as strong as it was when it was turbo'd.

The car I put it in had many problems but the motor wasn't one of them.

a BASIC kit will run JUST FINE off of like a SAFC or some type of piggy back.

hes not going for 500+ whp
SAFCs suck end of story. On a honda it alters the map sensor signal. Say you are running the hack with larger injectors and an afc. Now you need to lean the larger injectors out so the car isn't dumping in fuel all the time. To do this you "trick" the ecu into seeing lower manifold pressures than what it is really seeing. This causes the ecu to output a lower pulsewidth. At the same time it is going to agressively advance your ignition timing. It is going to see you being at partial throttle load cells while you are running in boost. Does running partial throttle timing(i.e. more timing than wot with a stock motor and ecu) sound good while you are in boost? SAFCs have no control whatsoever over ignition timing. So in order to correct this you will need a seperate ignition controller as well. Sounds like it would be cheaper to get a chipped ecu and not blow up your engine.

Yep...My d16z6 had 170k miles on it when i boosted it, lasted 10months..or a lil more... ran 6psi at first..for about a week..lol...then 11psi....then 14.5 psi. all with Crome Tune. ran awesome until #3 got hole in it. I wouldnt boost it if money is low right now.
