Yeah, I just don't see the one for failure to signal being for small stupid shit like switching lanes without signaling (when theres no traffic). Now if you cause an accident or you just cut someone off in heavy traffic then you should get fined. People piss me off all the time doing that. The consequence probley depends on the severity of the offense. Lets hope so anyways.

Seriously... big deal. lol

I'm all for it. Thats what they're there for. It pisses me off when people don't use them. If I get caught with that ticket, I'm going to pay, cuz its my fault.
You have that mentality now, just wait till you get pulled for something.

1000 for a misdemeanor is too steep considering theres fees that are significantly less for criminal acts.

It keeps saying "court." I wonder if the same stuff applies if pre-paid. I also wonder if they intend on sending everyone to court for silly things like "no-signal." That would be retarded and effectively clog the courts. Its a fucked up way for the state to make a buck, but I guess they feel it'll keep people sensible on the road.

No, if you read it you will see judges has no way to reduce the fines.

coming straight from that article
". . .which was designed to provide additional funds".
Which proves that fact that our government/police are no longer here to protect us, but run a business and take as much money as they can. I'm all for upping the penalties for hit and runs/DUI's, but this is rediculous. When it becomes "Hey guys, ignore the the robbery investigations and rapes as they cost a lot, but go out there and write some 'failure to use turn signal' tickets so we can make a buck get this super cool new cruiser police cars.

You are pretty retarded. Obey traffic laws and you won't have to worry about this. Why is this such a hard concept to grasp for you idiots?

You should be more worried about something you don't have control over. Like all the new bullshit taxes and fees that are going to originate because of this new HR Transit Authority.

How many times have you switched lanes w/o your signal? Theres a difference between robbing a store and making a simple mistake. Cops and courts will want to more penalize your spirited driving as reckless. They've now turned supressing people into a lucrative process. The judicial branch is to uphold law and order, NOT OF TAXATION AND RAISING REVENUE. That is power of the legislative branch, NOT THE JUDICIAL BRANCH. Its basically saying "We want to raise money, but we know if we just put a straight tax, it will make us look bad, so were going to defy the constitution, bend rules, step out of our bounds, and do it this way." They're making it lucrative to make everyone criminals.

The judge cannot change the amount of the additional fee but this law has not changed the fact that the judge can find you guilty of a different charge which is not subject to the additional fee.

"Gov. Tim Kaine, who practiced law at Richmond firm McCandlish Holton, is proposing an additional $9 million a year to pay court-appointed attorneys beyond the state’s capped fees. If the proposal passes, it would be the first significant new funding made available for indigent defense in 30 years."

they'll fine you that much for a turn signal because its easy money. easy money that is going to in turn help the state defend theives, crackheads, prostitutes and people with no income, which are the ones who use court appointed attorneys 90% of the time. the state isnt worried about the real problems, they're worried about getting that money and hiring an assload more cops.

this state is a police state. the times ive been pulled over, i feel like i've recieved more judgment by the cop at the scene of the "crime" , then the actual judge when i go to court. the cop can twist his "case facts" around however he wants to get a conviction. when you go to court....whatever he writes down is fact and theres nothing to be judged, just a fine to be applied. its bs. im moving to costa rica
