Set it to base settings for your gen (1G or 2G) and then get another mode of tuning (AFC, DSMlink, E-damage, whatever)

MAFT sucks for tuning and is not consistant and a complete pain in the ass to tune.

Yeah I was about to say, tuning with just the MAFT would be a nightmare without a way of monitoring it and another form of adjustment. Most just leave it zero'd out so that can take advantage of blow-through, and less restrictive intake's, and tune using another piggy back like the safc, dsmlink, etc etc. Alot of guys end up getting frustrated with the inconsistancy of the gm sensor and end up switching back the the stock 2g mas, or evo mas as it seems to be much smoother and can flow up to 50-52lb/min before compensation is needed through dsmlink on the VE table.

i agree with everyone here. from what ive seen anyways i dont care for the maft. yeah it has its benifits, but imo i dont think its worth it. look at it this way. by the time you buy the mas, the translator, dsmlink and a latop to tune with your at what, around $1000 give or take a few hundred. not knocking dsmlink at all but aem is where is at aem is around $1500 but again aem is awsome im sure but its not for the beginer tuner. if you want simple, cheap and effective, go safc2 and a datalogger. its a great way to start learning.

when you guys get into the power levels that andrew and brian are wanting, you will need to go aem. The poor dsmlink just isn't gonna cut it. Hell, I'd just buy AEM neway and be done with it...oh wait...I did

what happened to the old days here?im 33 years old from orlando fl started working at honda in 1992 and then mitsu for a short while.i wish some of you could see people putting things to and past the potential of what they have to work with.they did not have the maft,dsmlink or hondata back then.everything was apexi safc,accel dfi and haltek from what i remember.shit,dsm guys back then putting down 400whp from,hks 272,apexi afc,660 injectors,fuel pump ,20g turbo or frank series,hks fcd,big fmic and a good tune!but no one had shit for the purto rican guys with the rotarys.these guys were amazing,fucking amazing the way togather they worked.the fastest street stuff was the turbo fox body mustangs,fuck they were fast!now days its like know one respects any of this anymore.i respect everything thats fast that people work hard on!if you dont like the maft take it off and put on the stock one on then!but i bet most of you would bitch if you did not have it!!!!!!!!Pennzoil Synchromesh is gl4,gl5 corrodes the synchros and redline is gl3 gl4 also!i dont have the money to get a stage 3 shep tranny or slowboy stage soso block.i make the best with what i got and getting hand me downs will be fine with me also,i hope some can relate.
