2005 track days with either TPM, Cornerspeed, or SBTT?
i'd have to disagree with the only use a track tire thing though... i did all my track days last year on sportech M1's and michelin pilot powers(i know you mentioned these), standard pirelli corsas are good... but half the guys at my work ride on Bt010's, bt020's and they are in i'd say the top 90% of the racer group at track days... unless you have a dedicated track bike or a spare set of wheels and cash to blow i'd just use whatever rubber is already on there, granted its got like you said plenty of tread and isn't a sport touring tire
if either of you guys need SC's or Rennsports, www.ronayers.com has 180 rears for 126 shipped!!! this is the best tire deal you will ever find, i picked up two sets

Gotta throw out the BS flag on that Del. Not saying that you're lieing............but dudes saying they RACE on STREET tires and are in the 90%?????????????
NO FRIGGIN WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO FRIGGIN WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
read what i said... racer group in track days, not racing... yea racing on a true stree tire(not a DOT slick) would be dumb, but a set of good street tires are more than enough to ride hard enough to have fun at a track day, since its not a race and any modern good street tire is better than 99% of riders anyways, like i said if its a track bike go for it, but if its your street bike and your just doing an occasional track day then i don't see it being worth it to have to swap tires or rims, but then again i'm a lazy bastard

At the track it's like 20 bucks a tire to get them changed. And if you are in the Military it's free at the Hobby Shop on Oceana! That's all I did. Bought my scrubs for 50 bucks, put em on myself..................and left them on so I can run them on the street through the winter and save my street tires from some use.
I see what you're saying Del, but still don't agree. It's not very safe to run street tires while dragging a knee through turns for 6-8 sessions in a day.
I just don't want some peeps on here taking their bikes to VIR and running street tires and going buck wild on 'em. I'm more than sure that at tech inspection something would be said about the tires.

i'd rather have a new street tire than a take off that i have no idea how old it is and how many heat cycles it has been through... i've done plenty of track days on a 166 rear wheel hp gsxr 1000 on street tires and haven't had any problem at all, but again i'm talking newer good street tires, M1's, powers, corsas, bt012ss, or 208's, but if that thing can stick to the track with street rubber under it then anything can, and i'm not even the best of riders... but i know for fact tech inspection wouldn't say a word about you being on the track on street tires
and if they are a new track rider that goes double, if someone can't use a street tire to its full potential then why go with a race tire? its just a track day so they should be riding their own pace anyways, if they are pushing the front and spinning the rear then back it off a notch, no contingency money or race points at stake
i'm not saying to not run race tires if you want, but just saying in my opinion and from my experience there is nothing wrong with a good street tire... but as for running take offs in the winter on the street, thats just scary

the deal was so good i had to order two rears, but ronayers wasn't doing fronts for that great of a price and i can get them cheaper here at work, thanks for the concern though stalker
