I would even consider trades on car worth around the 5k range.

Just throwing that out there too

I Found that I can save about 1,000 if I want to build this same machine with similar/better hardware I spared no expense on getting ultimate gamer grade hardware, but please read the comments I have at the end as well as my opinion of the value of this machine.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 Kentsfield 2.66GHz, $290
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115027
a great server processor, just not practical for desktop computing especially with the new 45nm chips out (which require new boards but ar worth it for PCI-E 2.0) knowing this processor and how windows machines work I find it a total waste to go Quad core, windows itself hardly expands itself onto 2 cores, and most video game don't even consider the possibility of quad core, you can manually shift them into the other 2 cores but they wont use all 4, its much more practical and cost effective to get the 45 NM E8400 3.00ghz processor with a 1333mhz fsb which is $200 and offers more power to the primary core's for better gaming. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115037)

ASUS Striker II Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI $450
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131274
in my opinion, this is THE BEST, motherboard for Intel SLI users, with DDR3 support (which isn't available in his build) Now this forces you to purchase DDR3 ram but you'll be running faster because of it.

CORSAIR XMS3 DHX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM (PC3 12800) $350.00
Once again worth it, this operates at 1600mhz (double the ram in the listed machine)

Western Digital Caviar RE2 GP WD1000FYPS 1TB $280
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136206
1tb drives aren't expensive, to some maybe, I'm running 2tb's of storage in my machine I chose to have 4x500 in case of product failure, and for that I believe a large and fast primary drive is in order

Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10,000 RPM $170
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136012

BFG Tech BFGR88768GTXOCWCE GeForce 8800GTX 768MB $600 (Each) $1200
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814143085
I could have chosen the non water block one and saved 200 per card, but why settle when you have 5k to spend? besides BFG is a wonderful company that provides lifetime support and a lifetime warranty on all of their products, they even support old AGP cards like the 6800 Ultra that I have in my sisters clunker...)

SILVERSTONE OP1000 ATX 12V 2.2 & EPS 12V 1000W $250 (also has a $50 mail in rebate currently!)
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817256010
To power this monster I went with a silverstone 1kw psu, some would say 1200 would be a better idea but with the 45nm proc, even if you upgrade to the 9800GX2's in SLI you'll be riding easy... not that you need to waste money on those POS.

SILVERSTONE TJ09-B Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $280
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811163075
I Also chose a silverstone case, since I couldn't find a lian Li case I felt did this machine justice the case has a nice setup to provide optimal cooling to the 2 hard drives, it is fan based, so you may not appreciate it to its full capacity, but you can modify the HD cooler with a water block and remove the case fans.

KOOLANCE EX2-750BK Liquid Cooling System $240
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16835127006
This one works very well in practice the only downside is it's a little bulky, but for a machine you plan to over clock this is what you want to stay ice cold and run at your peak.

ASUS Black 2MB Cache SATA 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe $36 But get 2 ($72)
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16827135156
Fair priced burner, and you can even do that goofy HP light scribe crap if you want!

SAMSUNG 2253BW Black 22" 2ms(GTG) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor $299 ($598)
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16824001268
A nice high contrast low latency monitor worthy of a build this great... suck it blue I chose 2 of them since one is wimpy

This in total added up on the wishlist (some of the stuff is autonotify so I had to meh)

Grand total for this experience!?

Subtotal: $4,088.87
Shipping will tack on an extra $100

I could have built a machine following his specs more closely for about $3,700. The striker motherboard and DDR3 ram cost me about 400 more

Whats different from his build from mine? well Let me give a little rundown

Build and prep of the computer, any of you that have prep'ed a show computer you've had to fight with proper wire management Wire tucks on a computer will cost you about 1-2 hours to get it down to a tight fit wile keeping stress off of the wires (something I find often overlooked)

Most people have never done watercooling, its a bit scary for any new person and also takes a decent amount of time to rig.

A build and prep on a machine of this caliber will cost you about 3-4 hours to build and install the OS and drivers. that at Alien ware is going to be charged at about $50/h so $200 added onto your bill... (thats a LOW estimate, most PC repair shops charge about 60-70/h for labor)

Then you have the issue of Warranty, now I personally trust in the warranty of the manufactures I buy from, but Alienware does do quality control on all of their machines, they are personally tested to ensure they work when you receive them so you don't have the risk of a DOA when you order your parts.
I've always found that your basic computer hardware, unless baked in dust, mistreated, or struck by lightning, if it lasts longer than the basic return deadline, it's probably not going to break until you cant sell it for more than 10% of what you paid. but if you aren't a tech person its a bit daunting to worry about that, IMO if you have that kind of money a repair on any one part or replacement isn't going to break the bank. but if you did want it thats about 500-600...

Add it all together and you are at the 5k spot...

And thats all I have to say...

Think about this though, the machine is 1 year old and compared to the machine specs I posted, that computer will be lapped in everything because of the faster CPU/Mobo/RAM setup I have chosen.

My personal opinion of the actual VALUE of that computer is...
$4,300

since its good to go, and includes the warranty and service. Not to knock the seller, in fact I hope people understand the true price and value of the machine, what would steer me away to build the machine I provided would be the PCI-2.0, the DDR3 Ram. thats the major thing, by doing so you'd either keep the processor or upgrade, I think the Striker II extreme would be a MUST HAVE upgrade if you wanted to spend that cash but it could be held off for about 6 months when the PCI 2.0 cards really start to make it out on the market.

sircrx I hope you don't take this the wrong way, PM me if you'd like this removed. good luck on the sale man!

Well seeing as you only put the dual core processor in and not a quad and you also only got a 120 gig hard drive and not ten times more than what I have in this one (you may never even use it but it's there) You got close to it with what you did put into it I think 5000OBO is a good price for this computer. If you wanted to offer me 4300 we could talk. This is OBO and I am willing to negotiate.

Remember that there is over 10k in software loaded on this computer if you keep the xp

I neglected a copy of xp and the surround sound so it would be bumped up to 4,600 as a reasonable price, but I did have 1tb hard drive included (1000gb) and I only priced what compaired to your machine, the dual core e8400 was a suggestion

Inside windows (non server) you wont use all 4 cores, 2 if you're lucky.

BUT... in server and Batch rendering (if yo do animation) You will start to take advantage of the other 2 cores, but gamers will never see the other 2 at work

That aside, this machine will give you 2 years of play before you need to think about an upgrade, even then it's at the point where unless we go light based, this machine will live a long time and continue to play the most recent games for 3 years to come (assuming we hold the same progression trend as we have since 2003)
