AMD 4400+ Dual Core CPU (X2) Socket AM2
I have a 4400+ cpu that works great, and has been able to handle everything I can throw at it except decoding bluray movies. Its very fast for everyday use or gaming. The bluray movies play, but they are choppy, so I am upgrading.
$65 - only used for a month, can demonstrate.

I allready bought the gigabyte board I wanted. It has hdmi output, is hdcp compatable, and has optical 7.1ch output all right on the board. Supports the 9700 phenom, and 16gig memory.
I'm going with 4gig, and the 9700 phenom.
I allready tried my dads 6000+ on the board and it worked, but glitched every 20 seconds or so. I think the phenom will solve that. If not I may upgrade the memory more.
Different video card is out of the question, as I don't want to spent any more $$, plus the antec fusion I will be getting will not support a decent one.
All this machine will do is play bluray and hd movies, and mp3's sometimes. Everything else I have my laptop for.

the new AMD Phenoms came out that don't have the bugs are pretty much cost near the same as the 9700. But since you already bought all your stuff, I would have rather went Intel because there q6600 is only $234 on newegg now
I have been a big fan of AMD since after (key word there) the K2 series....
Intel is just too pricey in comparision, and for what I do, the AMD is perfect.
I'm very happy with the 4400+, it just won't do bluray. HD video is VERY demanding, but hey thats the only reason I built the machine.
