State safety inspection?
yea i bought my truck last year that had 33k on it with original bald tires. but the inspection was brand new. so i reported the guy. found out that the independent car dealer who deals with this certain inspector, told him that they were going to put new tires on it before it sold. needless to say the inspector lost his license. then i go to the dealership and tell them about the situation and they gave me a 600 dollar check for new tires.

several places went out of business when they lost their liscense (although they were likely gonna do that anyway, but the inspection deal was the last straws)
no, its really not. as long as they are below 2/32", in any portion of the tread (as long as they are in two different locations) it can be failed. any visibly out of round tires can be rejected also.
we get quite a few cars in that still have decent tread left on the outer shoulder, but due to lack of rotation, camber or toe wear, etc. the inner shoulder is thinner, and sometimes into secondary rubber. kabooom....ghostbuster time!!
Does anyone know if you can get a ticket for not having a safety inspection on a car when it is parked? I just saw my van has a "tow on 5 Aug" scribble on the front windshield, even though it has current plates and tags. I'm assuming it's due to the lac of safety inspection, even though there wasn't a ticket on it.

NN codes and complients had my cusins jeep towed out of his yard cuz it had a flat tire (and he even had one of them 12 volt cig lighter pumps next to it cuz it had a slow leak and kept going down) . . . . and this is why most everything I have is antique . .no inspection required

still can be cited for having defective equipment, and the big kicker is they can (and will with the right judge and/or CA) bust you for driving an antiqued tagged vehicle on a daily basis.
