Default So, I am getting my mother's old 93 Explorer

It's a 4 door, auto, Rear-wheel drive SUV. I like goin out with my boys with Jeeps and stuff, and now that I'm getting this, I was wondering if it was worth the investment to do anything to it, and if so, what should I do first?

Thanks in advance for the help

if you plan on wheelin it . . don't bother . .2wd isn't gonna do much for ya . . . . it's actually probably got open carrier in the rear so will technically be one wheel drive . . . but anyhow . .. now ground cleance and all . . .I wouldn't do much at all to it for wheeling . . get something 4wd . .

unfortunately, explorers have a bunk suspension setup for offroading...which is why the lift kits are ungodly expensive. If youre just going on some light terrain, a set of good aggressive tires can help, but dont expect to be a mud bog champion. I know you said it is RWD, but all explorers are... is it 4wd?

Yeah, I just found out today that it's a for sure thing that I'm getting it because she donated my POS camry to the Cancer Society and didn't say anything..then she was like, "Oh way, BTW.."lol First thing I did was have a friend call his buddy about Lift kits, and his boy told them to warn me that they would be expensive.

It's NOT 4WD...I already KNEW that that wouldn't be a plus in the off-road world because a few years ago, back when I was getting my permit, I was into the whole off road stuff. But hey, it's free, and since I'm going off to college in the next month, it's all good. I'm just trying to go ahead and figure out what I should do, so when I can work(I'm available in part of November and December ) I can save for stuff.

The best thing you could do to increase your traction would be aggressive tires and a locking diff. If you really wanted to spend some time, you could always convert it to 4wd. Every vehicle has potential, your wallet and your time are the limit.
