Default Recovery hook safety

Never I repeat never attempt a recovery on a chevy truck from the stock so called recovery hooks. I attempted one asuuming recovery hooks would serve as a good place to hook a nylon two strap with looped ends not the little metal hooks on it, and the recovery hook snapped off and went flying into my liscence plate leaving a hole in it danger beware I warned you.

My only question, how hard did you pull on it. Was this one of those floor it and try to snatch it out? Or did you do it the right way and take it easy? I've used plenty of stock tow hooks and have never had a problem. They're usually rated for more than the weight of the truck. But still be careful whenever you pull anything out.

It was a snatch but it was a reasonable one . I have been offroading quite a while and have made many recoveries and have never encountered this problem maybe it was one faulty hook I dunno but it just snapped right off. I normally shackel every thing with clevis' loops rated at 20k or more safety is big with me
