The George Washington National Forest is legal go to the designated trails and you stay on the trail. The most trails are around Harrisonburg (Second Mountian, Dictums, Dry River, Flagpole Knob, State Line, ect).

I know last time I was driving around in there most of them were blocked off. I usually enter in wolftown, and we used to go on Devil's Ditch but I know that one another others around it are posted. I had a link regarding the closed trails in that area but I don't know where it is now.

Stoney Run is closed for the winter. Shoe Creek should be open. In the forest there are designated 4x4 trails, the rest are off limits and gated.
