Default New FX4 owner here.............

Picking up an '04 FX4 tomorrow.

Can't wait to see what this truck can do. I'll post pics when I get home.

So where do people offroad around here?

I have a 04 FX4 Level II, that I bought new. I am very satisfied with mine. Just remember it does have some limitations. The weakest link IMO is the air intake point, behind the right headlight. If you do much water crossing be very careful or upgrade. Enjoy.

Level II?

I wonder what's different?

Ya, I picked it up last night and I'm in love. only 42k miles and I got them to throw on a new set of tires.

I've never been offroad before at ALL............so I'll be taking everything slow. I'll be heading down to Frisco in a couple weeks and there it will only see sand.

I've heard the biggest problem F150 owners have is the diff............not looking forward to having to fix/replace it.

All in all I'm happy. Anything that you think I should please speak up!!!! Seeing as you've had yours for a while I would really appreciate it!

Ah, I got it. My bad. I should have mentioned it was an F150. I didn't know Rangers had an FX4 package.

Mine is a Ranger, 4.10 axle ratio, 31x10.5x15 tires, skid plates, alco wheels, Bilstein shocks, 4.0 SHOC, 5-speed, Torsen limited slip rear diff, 31-spline 8.8 rear axle.

If you have never been on the sand, you will need to do some research and assemble a sand kit before you go. Lower tire pressure 20-psi is good for sand. You will need to air up when you get back on pavement. Other stuff, tow hooks, 20,000 pound recovery strap, shovel, 12" x 12" plywood plate for jacking in sand. There are som other things, but any of the internet truck sites will have discussions sand driving and preparation.
