Default My summer project

This summer I'm swapping in a 98 4.0L and a 96 AW4 into my 98XJ, which currently has a 2.5L and an AX-5. It should be a fun little swap. I still need to figure out to make a tiptronic shifter for the AW4. Since its a 96 the 98 engine computer won't know how to communicate to it. I'm bypassing the engine computer and using switches to manually shift the AW4 through the gears (since the AW4 is an electronicly controlled transmission). Just thought I would share:

I am, I pulled the harness and ECU along with the motor pictured. My transmission I have is still a 96. The transmissions use a seperate unit (TCU) to control them. The 96 TCU is not compatable with the 98 ECU.

getting the motor itself in won't be too bad. The wiring is gonna be killer. Next time I'm home I'll take a pic of the harness I need to put in

you can see part of the harness in the top of the first pic
