Default lost 4wd temporarely?

Got a 3.5" RE lift and 31x10.50s. Been feeling slight vibrations from the tcase whenever i let off the gas. I did notice that the handle for 4wd sometimes vibrated and made noise at idle when not in 2wd and would go away when i just touched it or moved it slightly. I got the tcase drop and plan on putting it on today or tommorrow. But the question is I on the beach yesterday (ive driven on the beach tons of times w/ no problems) and yesterday I was in low (pretty damn soft/deep spot by my house) and i had 2 friends with me and i heard a thud and fwd was gone. Stopd... put it in neutral and put it into hi. It worked for a few seconds and then a thud again and no fwd. Was like screw it, went surfing and got a guy to yank me cuse the rear had dug a bit. When he did this all the sudden my 4wd worked flawlessly again.

Any ideas? I'm dropping it off tonight to get it looked at, would be nice if i could point the guys in a direction maybe.

thanks,
Creighton

hmm, your driveline angles should be ok. Do you have a 231 or a 242? Whens the last time you changed the fluid in the t-case? I would go ahead and put some new fluid in.

im assuming you have a vacuume operated differential disconnect... (since its a newer cherokee) you could have had a problem in the lines and it cleared its self.. i lost mine on my toyota once... and got stuck.. just had to splice them back together and it fixed the problem.

i know the driveline angle is off, I am putting in a tcase drop tonight (1"). Ya, its a 231 as well. I'm thinking it was cuse I did hit some really deep sand and deep ruts and the rear end sat more w/ 2 more people in the car w/ all the boards and shit in the rear and it slid out, then slid back in once i got yanked? shrug.

only fluids ive changed is oil... bought it from a dealership about 12k miles ago.

Stop touching yourself at night and the jeep would be ok.

from what I can tell its just the driveline angle due to the lift. got the spacer on the tcase and all is fine... just slipped out temp. I assume from bouncing in the sand.

Eventually I'm gonna get a slip yolk eliminator and a shaft to fix that problem the correct way.
