any trails in va mts
I'm pretty sure you can pitch a tent anywhere you want in gwnf unless its private property or right in the middle of a trail, oh and you can't cut down any trees either.. but there are already so many spots where the ground is cleared and firepits are dug, there is no need to pitch camp on a new spot.
We are heading back out to gwnf next month for a weekend. Heres a few pics from our event last year.
camp spot right a long dry river.

cootees that looks like sooo much fun. i've gotta plan a trip to there and crozet sometime soon after i build myself some rock sliders. don't wanna smash in my door again due to a tree haha.
Oh yeah.. I smashed my 1/4 panel in a tree last year Luckily it didn't bust my rear window. Just make sure you have a spare half shaft with you. gwnf likes to eat them up.
Stoney Run, between Sherlando Lake and Bald Knob on the Parkway. Shoe Creek at Crabtree Meadows to Alahambra. Lightly modified is nice, but can be passed with stock.
