WTF kind of storm was that?!?! Pics.. (how to save M3 from hail..)
OK, I'll explain the story in depth later but basically I herd some thunder and didn't think anything of it.
Ok, so the thunder gets louder.. then I see some insane gusts of wind (eh 40mph maybe) I'm like.. gust front, nice.. (I went storm chasing for a while.)
So again I was like.. ok a pretty big storm, go back inside.
Then I hear the rain.. open up the door, and a few seconds later everything gets louder.. and I see things bouncing off the ground (and the car!
) ...HAIL!
I grab all the towels I can and lay them over the car.. I also had a big foam blanket right by the door that covered the roof perfectly (the material is very tough too.)
I chill for a while knowing there isn't anything more I can do, a towel falls off the rear fender and I go up to put it back, and notice that the shit is at least 1/2" in diameter! I run up to my bed and take off the comforter and put it on the hood, then run back in to see wtf kind of storm this is..
I get on to weather.com and the red tornado warning banner comes up.. I'm like fuck this, take everything off the car, and go drifting (so much fun.. traction control was still on) through the neighborhood at like 60 to get to the gas station down the road. I get there, open the door, and am greeted by a 70mph wind.. look around, and see the storm structure for the first time. I'll let the pics explain the rest.
"green" sky anyone? I should have taken a hint..

Lesson of the day - gotta have priorities, I think she's safe for now.

Dude that storm fucking sucked there was hail and massive rain, not to mention tornado warning all over the fucking place. The first thing i did was move my car away from all the god damn tree's and things that would blow over. (I don't have a garage so I was kinda sad).
Also...Do you have a digital camera with you everywhere you go? Lol you have massive amounts of photoshoots.
Seems like it doesn't it? Nah I knew this was going to be crazy, when I decided to leave I threw the camera (still connected to tripod) into the trunk and dipped out!
It was a convective storm, caused by the uneven heating of the ground, florida gets them pretty much every day.
When the upper level winds pick up faster then the lower level and can keep the storm "stable" (basically so the up drafts aren't washed out by the down drafts)
was one hell of a storm though...good i deal taking it to the gas station...

Eh when I looked at it, it had the structure of a supercell with a beaver tail and everything.. not your average storm at all.
Then again all storms are caused by convection to a certain extent.
